ABOUT MY SERVICES

Based in Torquay on the English Riviera, I have been providing both alternative and traditional hearses in South Devon since 2016. Starting with a single motorcycle hearse, I then added at least one new service every year until now, where there are currently fourteen different services to choose from. I personally pay for all the vehicles and their upkeep, together with all the funeral accessories needed.

Why I only require a set donation to charity for my services instead of payment

At an early age my parents and grandparents made me aware that there are other children much less fortunate than myself, and I should help them whenever possible. I remember as a child collecting money for charities at events in London, my place of birth and residence. The photograph on the right shows me collecting money for charity in the early nineteen sixties, aged around ten years old. I continued my charitable work as an adult, and then on my retirement, I was able to devote more time to it. Upon moving to Torquay in Devon with my wife, Sue, we saw how many local children with special needs there were. Having a disabled daughter myself, and now a disabled granddaughter, we joined a local group of bikers who raised money for local children who had special needs. I carried out my first motorcycle-themed funerals whilst with them, and the proceeds went to the group. Sue and I decided to start our own fundraising group, which later became a registered charity that purchased essential items to help improve the lives and/or education of local children who are disabled or severely ill, and we named it Torbay Bikers for Kids. With Sue as Chair of the charity, I put my passion of vehicles together with my passion for helping children who are disabled or severely ill, and to date the we have helped over three hundred local children.

I deem it an honour and a privilege to convey a family's loved one to their final resting place in a way that will leave a lasting memory for family and friends attending, by giving their loved one the special send-off that they deserve and reflecting who they were in life. For that reason I could not ask for any payment for myself for providing my services. Instead, I ask that a set charitable donation be made by the family, in their loved one's memory, to the registered charity Torbay Bikers for Kids, and there is information about the charity below, together with a link to their Facebook page, a link to donate money to them via their fundraising platform, and a link to their bank details all at the bottom of this page.

Torbay Bikers for Kids (Charity Registration No 1200973) consists of bikers & motorcycle enthusiasts who raise money so the charity is able to purchase essential items that will help improve the lives and/or education of children who are disabled or severely ill, living in Torbay and the surrounding area in South Devon. Now in their 9th year, hundreds of children have been helped by the charity, and they are all featured on their Facebook page being presented with their essential items. The charity's Patron is the much-loved television celebrity 'Wee Jimmy Krankie'.
